At Wilson Estate Vineyards, every bottle tells a story—of our land, our vines, and the people whose passion brings them to life. Today, we’re honored to introduce one of the most important people behind that story: Brent Lybrink, our Head Winemaker and Enologist.

A Lifelong Passion Turned Career

Brent has spent nearly 20 years refining his craft, transforming a lifelong hobby into a full-fledged career in winemaking. After earning his certification in Winemaking and Enology from Purdue University, Brent immersed himself in exploring the unique grape varieties grown here at Wilson Estate. His hands-on approach and dedication to learning have given him invaluable insight into the distinct styles and varietals that thrive in our vineyard.

Crafting Wines with Excellence

As both a winemaker and enologist, Brent’s expertise spans every aspect of the process—from vineyard management and fermentation to the careful art of aging. He combines traditional winemaking techniques with innovative practices, ensuring each vintage reflects both exceptional quality and the unique terroir of our southern Michigan estate. Under his guidance, Wilson Estate Vineyards has flourished, gaining recognition for its sustainable practices and commitment to excellence.

A Mentor and Community Leader

Beyond the vineyard, Brent dedicates his time to mentoring and community building. For the past eight years, he has supported his daughters’ robotics teams, encouraging creativity and innovation. He has also spent nine years coaching girls’ lacrosse, fostering teamwork, skill, and confidence in young athletes. These roles highlight his passion for nurturing the next generation, both in and out of the vineyard.

Life Beyond the Vines

When Brent isn’t crafting wine or mentoring young people, you can often find him enjoying the great outdoors. He loves camping, hiking, and mountain biking—activities that reflect his deep appreciation for nature and balance. His sense of adventure and dedication to family and community make him not only a remarkable winemaker but also an inspiring individual.
